After using ActivePresenter for two projects, Audacity seemed like a piece of cake! The software wasn't hard to figure out, though I admit, I probably didn't use all of the tools at my disposal. I've recorded podcasts with friends in the past, but it's so much different when you have to edit it too!
My first attempt, my mouth was way too close to the microphone. It was early and I was trying to not wake up my partner. Second attempt sounded better except I could hear every single time I breathed in. I sounded like I was hyperventilating! So I went through and edited out all the breaths - actually not hard to do, because you could see a different sound wave pattern. I still listened to every single one before I cut it just to make sure.
I was pretty happy, but as I was listening to it again, I could hear where I fumbled the microphone or knocked it while holding it. It was mostly under me talking, and I couldn't figure out how to separate that sound out, so I just recorded sections of the script again and copy and pasted them into the timeline.
Subject matter was pretty easy to decide. As soon as I saw the word commercial, I decided to do one for my upcoming Drunk Shakespeare performances. The script didn't take too long to write. I probably should've slowed down in my reading. I know I talk fast, and that makes me trip over words - however I have listened to audiobooks where I felt it was too slow and I hate that.
After this I may be tempted to record other podcasts. I've certainly enjoyed it when I've been a guest on friends' podcasts. I'm not sure what subject matter I'd tackle. First I need to graduate so I actually have time to devote to it.
